About the Hilgay Silver Band


Brief History of the Hilgay Silver Band
Hilgay Silver Band was founded in 1896. Originally formed by farmers and land workers from the village and
surrounding areas.
The band has improved over the years and has become one of Norfolk's premier bands.
The Silver Band plays a full range of traditional music as well as some of the more well known popular music
of the time and performs throughout the year at a variety of events and venues

Rehearsals and Musical Direction:
The Hilgay Silver Band  perform regularly at events in their local area and are available for bookings throughout
the year.

Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings between 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
in the band's own band room opposite the war memorial in Hilgay.


This friendly brass band based in West Norfolk welcomes new players of all
standards and ages whatever your favoured instrument.
If you wish to find out more you are very welcome to come and meet us at rehearsals on
 Thursday evenings between 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm.

We also have a Training Band that meets at 18:45 on Wednesdays.
This is mainly but not exclusively for youngsters and instruments are available for loan.

Hilgay Silver Band - 2016

Training Band Rehearsals:
The Hilgay Silver Band also runs a training band under the direction of Brian Doy.

The training band is mainly but not entirely made up of youngsters.
The training band meets at 6:45 pm on Wednesdays.
Tuition is free and we will even lend you an instrument.
